The flexibility of polyurethanes offers perfect solutions for many construction applications
Wear resistance, durability and stability even in difficult areas are most important requirements for construction materials. Bayer MaterialScience's raw materials are developed for the production of coatings, adhesives and sealants for various applications which can be adjusted to the individual requirements.
Bayer MaterialScience provides raw materials for the following applications:
Crack injections
Pouring compounds
Joint sealants
Crack-injections – For the sealing of water-bearing cracks in buildings
Specific modified polyisocyanate prepolymers serve as injection resins in order to seal water-bearing cracks in structural and in civil engineering. Desmodur® E 20100 is an injection resin, which is primarily used for the sealing of waterbreaks in civil engineering projects. It can also be used to displace water in cracks and hollow spaces in order to prevent any further damage. It is applied with suitable injection equipment using high or low pressure methods.
Pouring compounds
Pouring compounds based on Desmodur®, Desmophen® und Desmocap® are reliable sealants for floor joints preventing liquids from penetrating. They compensate any change in dimension of the joints for many years. Very good adhesion to the joint sides results in a tough and firm bonding. Pouring compounds are very elastic and have a very good inherent strength at the same time, which makes them very resistant to mechanical stresses caused by car or pedestrian traffic. Elasticity and toughness of the pouring compound can be adjusted by a suitable combination of isocyanate and polyol grades.
