Baybond® Polyurethane resins for glass fiber sizing – a strong solution for the reinforcement of plastics.

Today many polyurethane glass fiber sizings are polyether and polyester dispersions based on aliphatic diisocyanates. Baybond® Dispersions are waterborne polyurethane dispersions specifically developed for glass fiber sizings destined for the reinforcement of thermoplastics like for instance Polyamide 6 (PA 6), Polyamide 6.6 (PA 6.6) and Polybuthylterephtalate (PBT). In specific cases they also are used for the reinforcement of composites.

Baybond® features high shear resistance, good temperature resistance and good compatibility with commercially available silane bonding agents. Glass fiber sizings based on Baybond® show excellent film forming properties and a very good adhesion and the color remains stable even at high thermal exposure.

Some product examples:

Select products Characteristics
Baybond® PU 403Good chemical resistance and impact strength – useful for a wide range of glass fiber sizing formulations
Baybond® PU 405Excellent thermal stability and anti-yellowing behavior – formulation of sizing which can handle higher temperatures
Baybond® VP LS 2277Provides improved stability in lower pH formulations; improved impact strength when used in composite applications
