Pipe coatings – Efficient corrosion protection with polyurethane coatings

Corrosion protection of steel pipes for transportation of oil, gas or water is of great economic interest. Liquid polyurethane systems are particularly suitable for this kind of application because they can be applied directly to the substrate in one layer of up to 2 mm.

In addition, the curing process is fast even at low temperatures. Good impact resistance as well as permanent elasticity, good resistance against micro organisms and good cathodic protection makes them suitable even for welded joints.

Bayer MaterialScience’s Desmodur® und Desmophen® grades are particularly suitable for solventfree polyurethane pipe coatings. Two-component systems can be applied using airless spraying equipment and do not require any other complex application equipment.
