Polyurethane coatings unlimited chances for plastic surface modification

Today many plastics surfaces are coated not only for decorative reasons, but also in order to protect them against weathering, scratches and exposure to solvents. Two componennt polyurethane coatings have become the technology standard.

The properties at a glance:
    • Modification of surface structure (Optics)
    • Modification of haptics (Soft-Feel)
    • Very good weather protection
    • Excellent resistance against aggressive substances
    • Improvement of scratch resistance
    • Improvement of impact protection
Flexible polyurethane plastic coatings improve the impact performance of the substrates. Unlike rigid coatings they deform the plastic materials when under extreme mechanical stress and thus prevent material break. Watch our impact penetration and splintering test videos.

In most cases plastic coatings consist of three layers:
Primer to improve adhesion and to level imperfections of the plastic substrate
Base coat for coloring and effects (e.g. metal finish)
Top Coat for coloring and as protective layer against weathering, solvents and scratching
Clear Coat as protective layer against weathering, solvents and scratching
Soft-feel coating is a specialty coating which adds a pleasant high quality touch to plastics in many applications.
