Ultra-low monomer: meeting the market's needs

The coating and adhesive market is increasingly looking for a combination of consistently high product performance and an improved ecological profile.

Clear advantages in reduced monomer content
Desmodur® UL-75 XP, an aromatic poly-isocyanate based on toluene diisocyanate, combines the benefits of a proven poly-isocyanate product range with a reduced free monomer content. This ultra-low monomer advantage can be exploited in tried-and-tested 2K polyurethane formulations and existing application technologies – without the need for adaptations that a switch to new technology would necessitate. The ultra-low monomer content brings an additional advantage in labeling terms. In accordance with the "Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals" (GHS), the Desmodur® UL-75 XP label merely displays the exclamation mark and the flame symbol.

Through this new ultra-low monomer addition to the Desmodur® family Bayer has written another innovative chapter in its poly-isocyanate story – one that meets the market's demand for a consistently high product performance combined with an improved ecological profile.

Equally powerful performance
The product data detailed below show that Desmodur® UL-75 XP performs as well as the traditional Desmodur® L-75 grade.
