Business Unit Coatings, Adhesives, Specialties (BU CAS) of Bayer MaterialScience AG

Success through innovative ideas

The Coatings, Adhesives and Specialties business unit (BU CAS) uses its innovative edge to tap further potential. To play an active role in shaping the market, CAS develops products with unique attributes as well as transferring the same know-how to completely new applications.

The CAS business unit offers an extensive range of raw materials and services for manufacturers of paints and coatings, adhesives and sealants and a sizable number of specialties. This allows the very latest technology to be used extremely effectively for a variety of applications. The business unit is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of aliphatic and aromatic isocyanates.

According to Daniel Meyer, head of the CAS business unit, “the outstanding characteristics of polyurethanes are particularly suitable for meeting the growing demands of our markets. We aim to use our know-how to help our customers strengthen their competitive edge.” It is increasingly important for companies to identify needs and constraints at all levels of the value chain and to integrate these in their own strategy.

A workforce of 2,500 employees across the globe generated sales of € 1,96 billion in 2012. Daniel Meyer adds: “Establishing a climate of trust is of prime importance for our work – in this way, we can move away from bureaucracy and towards an enterprising, responsible workforce.” This is vital when it comes to taking on ambitious targets and challenges together. Through transparent communication and goal-driven employee development, the CAS business unit ensures that the quality of its activities remains at a consistently high level.
