Polychloroprene dispersions – Solvent-free and environmentally friendly – Dispercoll® C
Due to their environmental compatibility solvent-free adhesives are growing strongly in the market place. The properties of waterborne Dispercoll® C-based polychloroprene dispersions are similar to Baypren®-based solvent-based systems, but in addition to their inherent environmental compatibility they offer additional benefits:
They can be easily formulated to > 50% high solid adhesives
They can be formulated to show high initial strength combined with excellent wet-in-wet adhesive properties
They can be filled to a high degree with anorganic fillers allowing for high resistance against water, oil and chemicals
They can be formulated to adhesives with high softening points even without the use of isocyanates
Typical applications for Dispercoll® C are sole bonding in the footwear industry, bonding of foamed materials, i.e. mattresses, furniture lamination, bonding of textiles, rubber parts and the lamination of PE-films. Other applications can be envisioned as well. Please contact our technical experts.
The rate of crystallization, the gel content (i.e. temperature resistance) and the degree of OH-functionalization of the Dispercoll® C product range can vary significantly. By combining select grades the desired properties - like tackiness, hardness, durability and temperature resistance - can be designed to specific requirements.
Dispercoll® C grades can be processed as one- or two-component systems. In systems where fast crosslinking at room temperature is desired an isocyanate crosslinker can be added to Dispercoll® C.Bayhydur® 401-70is a particularly suitable product for that purpose. It adds cohesiveness and temperature stability to the bonding.
