Protection against graffitis with great durability
Everyone knows them: More or less attractive graphics decorate or deface – depending on your point of view – freight and passenger trains. To prevent the adhesion of graffitis – or at least the easy removal of them without any trace - has triggered efforts by the coatings industry to offer a solution for this problem.
Bayer MaterialScience has developed water-based polyols and poly-isocyanate hardeners for waterbased two-component polyurethane coating systems, that prevents the color pigments and dyestuffs to enter into the coatings layer underneath the top-coat, while at the same time being durable enough to withstand the repeated removal procedure without damage for a long time.
UV-resistance is an additional advantage so these coatings can cope with the weatherability requirements of vehicles for transportation for years to come. This means that maintenance cycles can be extended significantly.
Bayhydrol® A XP 2695: A waterborne polyacrylate dispersion for high-performance coatings - Outstanding resistance to chemicals
With Bayhydrol® A 2695 coatings can be formulated that are resistant to graffiti. They are perfectly suited for the high-end coating of industrial goods, trains, commercial vehicles and even aircraft thanks to their extraordinary chemical resistance. Furthermore, the coatings based on this waterborne binder are extremely resistant to weathering and very scratch-resistant.
Coatings formulated with Bayhydrol® A XP 2695 are miles ahead of other waterborne systems with respect to chemical resistance. They even outperform solventborne reference coatings in some tests. For example, marker pen stains could be more easily and completely removed from panels coated with clearcoats formulated with Bayhydrol® A XP 2695 than from coatings based on established solventborne products. The new polyacrylate dispersion also imparts coatings with excellent resistance to aggressive liquids such as hydraulic fluids or detergents.
This binder is ideally suited not only for clearcoats but also for primers and surfacers for the coating of metals, and can also be used to easily formulate coatings that meet the requirements of European VOC legislation.
